Team Building Sun Tzu: …
2011
Sun Tzu: Author of The Art of War Robert Greene’s classic book The 48 Laws of Power is the dog-eared mainstay in my ever-growing library of books on leadership. Though it’s not specific to teams or Team Building it has many, many applications you can apply as a manager, or business owner. If you deal with people, you deal with power. For more information check outmy personal review of Not a book about teams. Not even a book about leadership. Not specifically a book about business. Thisis a examination on what it takes to succeed in any venture. . . Stephen Pressfield’s book is about Resistance and the most effective ways to fight it in your work, in your business, in your life. We all struggle with resistance, from the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, to the intern in the mailroom. Not only will this book help you get more done in less time, it will give you some much needed perspective on what is important. Here’s my more detailed review of Stephen Pressfield’s The War of Art . What can I say about Made To Stick? An amazing book for anyone who communicates, at work or at home. Follow the SUCCESs framework to structure more compelling communication and influence people to take action faster. An amazing resource for managers. The best business development book ever? For my money, yes. Jim Collin’s has written some of the most influential leadership books I’ve ever read. Well researched, well written, 100′s of examples, great ideas. What’s not to love? A full review of Good To Great will be here in the near future. I subscribe to very few newsletters, I read even less. Robert Cialdini’s newsletter is one I read religiously and wished he published more than once a month. Cialdini’s book Influence was my introduction to his work and it has paid off thousands of times over. How and why do we do what we do? This is an essential reading for every manager, business owner, parent, or anyone who’s ever set out to accomplish anything. Influence is one of very few leadership books that can and will change your life. A masterpiece! When I headed out to build this website, I struggled to find the right words and ideas to demonstrate how teams resist change on a personal level. How The Way We Talk Can Change The Way We Work gave me the ideas and the voice to explore my own passions. This book educated me on why I feel resistance doing the work I’m supposed to be doing. Most teams and businesses experience this same type of paralysis every day, this book gives you the methods and the process to initiate change on a deeply personal level and have it radiate to the rest of your organization. This is an ever-evolving list. I will continue to post more business development, career advancement, and here on a regular basis.
